Madinah Angels, an angel investment syndicate focused on high-growth technology opportunities at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and key industries, today announced the closing of its fourth deal, an investment as part of the early stage funding round raised by Kestrl, a financial technology company focused on serving Muslim and values-led customers through ethical, faith-aligned, and digitally enabled financial services.
Financial terms of the round, including investment size, valuation, investor allocations, and closing mechanics, were not disclosed.
The Kestrl participation represents Madinah Angels’ fourth investment in its inaugural year, following investments into REG-1, Syngentix and UpScrolled. Together, the investments reflect Madinah Angels’ focus on backing companies that combine financial services expertise, technology depth, and relevance to underserved markets across the Global South and other key strategic markets.
Kestrl is building financial technology that helps customers store, spend, and grow their money in line with their values. The company operates at the intersection of Islamic finance, personal financial management, embedded banking, and values-led financial technology.
Kestrl recently announced a strategic partnership with Maybank Islamic Berhad, the Islamic banking arm of Maybank Group, to launch a values-led fintech proposition in the UK. The partnership highlights growing institutional demand for digital financial services that combine modern user experience, ethical finance, Islamic finance principles, and scalable banking technology.
“This funding helps us to accelerate towards our mission to help this large and underserved population to better access financial services”, said Areeb Siddiqui, Founder & CEO of Kestrl. “Our customers are tired of feeling like they must choose between their faith and an excellent user experience. With the support of Madinah Angels and our broader investor base, we are better positioned to launch our savings and wealth propositions, strengthen our banking partnerships, and expand access to values-led financial services for Muslim and ethically minded customers.”
“Kestrl is building in one of the most important and underserved segments of global financial services,” said Abdul Haseeb Basit, Co-Founder of Madinah Angels. “There is a major opportunity to create financial products that are modern, digital, ethical, and aligned with the values of Muslim and values-led consumers.”
Madinah Angels’ participation reflects its broader thesis that the next generation of financial services companies will be shaped by trust, personalisation, values, and technology. Muslim and values-led consumers represent a large and underserved market, and Madinah Angels believes companies such as Kestrl are well positioned to help financial institutions serve this segment with greater relevance and credibility.
“Kestrl fits squarely within Madinah Angels’ mission,” added Abdul Haseeb Basit. “It has strong brand equity with impressive traction amongst its consumer base, has landed an industry-first deal with a global Islamic banking player, and will play a central role in shaping the next wave of financial services innovation for an underserved market, in the UK, Malaysia and beyond.”
